The Free Library.Sorry I clicked post before the was done writing so I'm in edit mode the finish my thoughts. This causes the ones to stay have more deployments and more deployments causes more people to get out. So what does an E6 do at this point? Many just get out. After 4 to 5 years stuck at E6 you will have the skill sets to earn minimum of 70k to 80k in the government and around 80k to 120k outside the government. If you come into the MOS as an E5 you'll get E6 after finishing the basic course. So this is also along side any SLC or officer training you might need. Then there is the intermediate course for 4 weeks at around year 3. So that might be time away from the family. Also its an MOS that requires a college degree. The 1st few years in the MOS you will be gone for 9 weeks to the basic course. ![]() So there are problems with being a training heavy and requirements heavy MOS. It's because we are a small MOS and getting out of the military is very lucrative financially and has strong stability as a career. Active duty 51C deploy just about every window of development. It's a hard MOS to find out about but once you are in, you are set for life.Īlso i know I made it sound simple, just writing contracts, however as you can imagine nothing ever goes as planned and there are always challenges and problems to solve along the way. I don't know any 51C that aren't on path to being at least a GS12 in the government. It opens up so many windows of opportunities for you post military career. The civilian work alot of overtime but doesn't affect the soldiers too much. As for time away, i would say that's mostly not a problem for soldiers. Deployment is more of the same, unless you get assigned to do contract administration, which you are just an overseer of a larger contract that someone else did. Army normally does 3 types of contract: supplies, services, and construction. Daily work is on a computer writing contracts. ![]()
